DAY 1

Drive Kivu for kayaking and Transfer to Uganda

With a surface area of some 2730 km2, Lake Kivu sits at almost 1500m above sea level. Perfectly safe to swim in, the water has a warm temperature of23-27all year around.
After your breakfast, You will be picked up at 7am for a drive to Gisenyi ( 2 hours and 30 minutes journey) to Lake Kivu, and later after lunch do Kayaking on Lake Kivu, travel peacefully along the spectacular coast of one of the African Rift Valley’s Great Lakes using modern and very stable sea kayaks and after enjoying an evening with a refreshing breathe at Lake Mutanda Resort in Uganda ( Mid-range)

DAY 2

Transfer to Bwindi (Ultimate Gorilla experience)

The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is a biodiverse, mountainous area in southwest Uganda. It’s home to many of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, who feed on roots, leaves and fruits from the park’s many tree and fern species. Restricted numbers of viewing permits help protect the endangered gorilla families. In the park, rough paths weave amid dense forests, which are home to many butterflies and birds.

What to carry

Bring jungle boots, gloves and rain jackets because the is often wet. Spend time in awe watching the gorillas go about their day activities. With encounter being different with its own rewards, but you’re most likely to enjoy the closer view of adults feeding, grooming and resting as the youngsters frolic and swing from vines in delightfully playful display. After early breakfast, you will be accompanied by the guide to the park headquarter for the briefing then you will go for gorilla trekking. DAY 3

Golden Monkey Trekking

The Golden monkey (Cercopithecus khanti), is endemic and so exclusive to the magnificent Virunga volcanic mountains of Central Africa These beautiful creatures occur in 4 national parks – Mgahinga (south-west Uganda), Volcanoes (north-west Rwanda), Virunga and Kahuzi-Biéga (eastern Democratic Republic of Congo).

After breakfast, you will head to Golden monkey trekking which is another thrilling experience in  Mgahinga National park.. These have also got a prominent golden fur coat, and this also adds to their unique attractiveness and are so lovely to look at and give an exceptional photography. After trekking you will be transferred to Lake Mulehe Gorilla lodge.

DAY 4

Batwa Experience and return to Kigali

Upon arrival at the park headquarters at 8am, you will visit the famous Batwa community for a community and cultural experience. You will learn about the traditional lifestyle of the Batwa, from brewing of the local beer to medicines made from this very forest. After the experience you will return back to Kigali.

What to carry:

With a minimum of 130$ per person to offer to visas immigration at the border in case you don’t have a East African Visa, the trackers, porters, staff at the park, or pay for any other item if you want.

  • Definitely wear proper walking boots, one guy on our trip wore trainers and, on the mountain, could hardly stand up. Where the gorillas flatten the bushes and ferns it is very slippy to walk on
  • Wear long trousers and gaiters – you will be walking through dense bush in places and don’t want scratches or creepy crawlies up your legs
  • Wear long sleeves

  • Take a sweatshirt as it can be cold on the mountain
