We had such an amazing time in Rwanda, one of the most beautiful countries we have ever been to. We did just over a week with Jean Marie as our... read more guide. Everything was well planned out and executed and we were at ease and stress free the entire time, free to enjoy our activities knowing everything was being taken care of in the background. We visited Akagera, Volcanoes, and Nyungwe, each so beautiful in its own way. Jean Marie gave us such a great background on the country, its people, nature- and our 101 questions everyday. I cant say enough about how great the trip was, and I think in large part it was due to this wonderful tour company and our excellent guide.

I cannot recommend this company highly enough! This is my second trip with A Step Into Nature Tours and they always deliver. My most recent trip was a one day... read more gorilla trek experience which was incredibly well organized. Ms. Lilian was especially helpful when it came to navigating COVID-19 restrictions on this trip. She answered my numerous questions, and was very responsive. Our tour guides/drivers (Tito and Ciprian) have been outstanding, friendly, and very helpful every time. Next time I am back in Kigali and have the opportunity for tourism, I will definitely be back with A Step Into Nature! …

My colleagues and I come to Kigali often for work. We always use Lilianne and this company almost every time. They go above and beyond and tailor the experience... read more to however budget or luxury you want it to be. They are always kind, flexible and make every experience truly special. Over the last three years have done: chimpanzee trekking/ Nyungwe, twin Lakes, Akagera national Park and most recently the incredible gorilla trekking experience. This is once in a lifetime experience and truly incredible. The drivers are also always wonderful, conversational and helpful!
I cannot recommend this company enough! Liliane especially is the best!

It was around 3.5-4 hours each way to Huye District where the coffee plantation was, but the drive pleasant. I enjoyed seeing the countryside, the towns, the schoolchildren walking by... read more the road, the vistas, the farms. Very peaceful and lots to look at.
Once we arrived at the plantation, I met with the owner and chatted a bit, then he introduced me to Eric, who would be my guide. Eric gave me a great summary of our stops on the tour, and then we departed, along with his sister Olive, out onto the road and then up the hill to where the coffee grows. It was about a half hour hike before the tour itself began. For me and anyone else not exactly in shape, it might be strenuous.
The tour itself was extremely informative and thorough, covering everything from the history of coffee to the botanical side of it to step by step explanations of each part of the agricultural process. We would hike, then stop at designated points where Eric and Olive would launch into well prepared explanations of the harvesting process, fertilization, preventing pests, etc.. At the top of the hill, a fire was already prepared and waiting for us to roast the dried beans Eric and Olive had brought along. They had me help roast the beans over the fire, then I watched them grind it with a mortar and pestle. Once it was brewed, I got to taste the freshest coffee I've ever had! It was wonderful!
There were a couple other stops, where we saw the place where the farmers washed and dried the beans, and some various other machinery involved in the process. Along the way, we walked through the farming village around the plantation, which was its own novel experience. So peaceful.
Eric and Olive were GREAT guides! So enthusiastic and so informed! They also have a habit of spontaneously breaking out into song and dance (totally serious, this happened like 3-4 times lol). The only negative to this tour is that it's so far from Kigali, but it's a great way to see the country if you don't mind the drive!

Rwanda turned out to be the highlight of my 4.5 month trip through western and eastern Europe.
I was traveling from Tbilisi Georgia to Morocco and picked Rwanda as... read more a place to stop and take a 10 day break. I had no plans other than to just hang out.
I had no idea Rwanda offered gorilla treking tours until after I arrived and looked for things to do.
After looking at several tour company offerings I liked the primate tour that A Step Into Nature offered the best.
I worked with Lillian. She was very nice and went out of her way to help me.
I was in between their regularly scheduled tours so they set me up with my own private tour.
I was able to negotiate a price that we were both happy with.
I aske her where I could grab lunch. She walked me to a place a few doors down. It was a cafeteria type of place. She walked me down the line and explained what each food was. So nice of her.
Lillian and Abbey took me on the tour. It took a day or so to get to the gorillas. I was handed off to a group of other tourists and several guides.
They walked us up a hill, into the jungle where we were handed off to another group of guides. These men would take us to the gorillas.
My god, it did not disappoint. We saw several gorillas and got very close to them. One large male gorilla walked right towards me. I was sitting on the ground and avoided eye contact.
He continued pass me. I could not have asked for a better experience. One of the highlights of my life.
Lillian asked me if I liked to go camping and I said yes.
A day later we drove to a very large lake. We took a small boat, piloted by two young men and Lillian and a girlfriend of her's came along.
I had no idea what to expect. We pulled ashore at an island. No camp sites, no running water and no toilets. We pitched 3 tents, I had my own.
That night I sat arond the fire with the 2 men and we shared a bottle of hooch I had brought. We talked and I felt like I got close to them.
In the morning we packed up camp and we stopped at another island where a monkey came down to the boat and we gave him bananas.
Then off we went to another island.
I should point out there were no jet skis or speed boats in this huge lake. Very few boats in fact. And no ariplanes flew overhead.
It was wonderful, beautiful and quiet. Absolutely stunning.
The second island was called Bat Island. As we walked through a grove of short trees I heard chirping. Hanging from all the trees where hundreds of bats.
They were disturbed by us and many took to the air.
That camping trip was only 1 night, but I loved it. It was another highlight for me. I love to tell people about it.
You can tell from this long review that I loved this tour.
I was well taken care of by Lillian and Abbey. I highly recommend them.
I didn't even mention how we stopped along the road to get some skewers of barbecued goat. And how a bird came swooping down from behind me and grabbed the goat out of my hand. What a smart bird.
I loved this tour. As you can tell I love reliving it.
peace out,
Greg S. from Los Angeles, CA
I took this trip in August. 2018.
