Journey time: 25-40 Minutes from Kigali international airport to the hotel
Kigali City tour and fly Nyungwe National Park
After breakfast at the hotel at 8am, you will be picked up and proceed to the airport for you scheduled flight and head to Nyungwe National Park. Your light aircraft flight to Nyungwe will provide outstanding visuals as the country’s dense hills will be perfectly illuminated beneath the wingtips. At Nyungwe airstrip, you will meet with your driver guide and proceed to the lodge for check in. Later after lunch, you will go for a short hike. The word Irebero means viewpoint, this 3.4 km trail offers you outstanding scenic views. It is moderately difficult and takes only 3 hours to be completed. It was designed to show you the beautiful views from high altitude and be able to look onto Rwanda’s borders and look at Lake Kivu. This trail also takes you on a loop around the two highest peaks that are found in Nyungwe forest. Meals and accommodation at the lodge.

Chimpanzee trekking and canopy walk
Nyungwe rain-forest national park is located in the Southwestern region of Rwanda, at an elevation of over 1600m, sounds and sights collaborate to create a magic experience as you journey through the majestic rainforest. The park holds the source of Africa’s great rivers, feeding the Nile in the east and Congo River in the west, and is known as the most endemic species -rich in Africa. It is a home to habituated chimpanzees and 12 other primate species, birds with over 300 species, butterflies and moths abound and the forest comprises of more than 243 species with canopy reaching 70m high in places, orchids and over 1000 plant types. After breakfast, hike into the depth of Nyungwe rainforest for chimpanzee trekking. The adventure includes traversing through the vines and thorny bushes across the forest floor along the muddy trails and before long you will find yourself in the middle of a group of chimpanzees. Chimpanzees still rule the landscape here, flourishing in a place that has been untouched by man. You will spend some time with the chimpanzees observing them as they go about their day to day activities and you can tell that they are biologically similar to yourself.
Later after lunch you will go for canopy walkway that gives an exhilarating perspective on the ancient treetops, bird’s eye view of the Albertine Rift endemic species and countless butterflies, for meals and accommodation at lodge.

Waterfall hike and tea plantation
After breakfast, you will head for waterfall hike, Nyungwe’s biggest waterfall and the inspiration for the trail’s name” isumo means waterfall in Kinyarwanda”. At roughly 17 m in height, it is even more impressive for the force with which it shoots through a narrow gap into a stunning amphitheater, lined with fluttering fronds of ferns, flowers and lianas, all thriving in the mist zone of the fall. There are caves in the overhanging cliffs, and a rainbow in the spray on sunny days. Three km to the east, and 100 m higher in elevation, lies the bottom of the thirteen square kilometer Kamiranzovu Marsh, which drains over the rim of this water-carved canyon.After the hike you will enjoy your delicious lunch, and later head for tea plantation walk. You walk into this tea estate to adventure close the variety of parallel ridges of tea plus the attractive mountains that provide a beautiful back drop for the plantation. Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Volcanoes National Park lies in northwestern Rwanda and borders Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda. The national park is known as a haven for the rare and endangered mountain gorilla and golden monkeys. It is home to five of the eight volcanoes of the VirungaMountains(Karisimbi, Bisoke, Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo), and spans 160 km2 covered in rainforest and bamboo. The park was the base for the zoologist Dian Fossey.After breakfast, relax at the hotel and later you will drive to volcanoes national park. Nyungwe and volcanoes National Park are linked with a wild roller-coaster road that trip up through rich plantain fields and leftover patches of misty tropical forest to offer wide views over the blue waters providing amazing scenery. Ultimate Gorilla trekking experience
After an early breakfast, we will drive to the Volcanoes National Park reception to be allocated a gorilla tracking group at 7am. After an introduction from park ranger about the trekking dos and don’ts, the enlivening trek to the gorilla’s natural habitat of shady bamboo forest begins. Once you reach the family, you are allowed to spend 1 hour with these amazing creatures watching them only a few meters away from you. Observing the group, the baby with the mothers, Gorillas partaking their everyday routine just right in front of you, is all very overwhelming experience. After trekking, you will proceed to Iby’Iwacu culture village (Gorilla guardians). A visit to Gorilla Guardians gives you a rare chance to meet local people, in their environment, with a taste of Rwandan culture and traditions. A guided walk through this village will reward you with unusual and unforgettable experience about their life. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Twin Lakes and fly to Kigali
Located between Musanze district and Ugandan border at the base of the Mount Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo, it’s believed that the twin lakes were formed after volcanic glaciers from the erupted volcanoes blocked river Nyabarongo that was flowing towards the northern part of the Rwanda. The twin lakes Burera and Ruhondo were named so because they are situated in the same areas and their physical connection and share a combined surface area of 2800 hectares of land. Famed for its fresh air, gorgeous mountain vista, and perfect weather, the lakes offer tourists a beautiful view of landscape, wetland habitat, and water birds, Virunga volcanoes.After breakfast, you will drive to Burera and Ruhondo Lakes for a fantastic nature walk around the lakes, bird watching later a beautiful sundowner cruise while enjoying the outstanding view of the volcanoes with cold drinks and snacks, later you will drive to Musanze airstrip for your scheduled flight.

Additional Information on what to carry for the activities
- Your passports
- Definitely wear proper walking boots, one client our trip wore trainers on the mountain, could hardly stand up. Where the gorillas flatten the bushes and ferns it is very slippy to walk on
- Wear long trousers and gaiters – you will be walking through dense bush in places and don’t want scratches or creepy crawlies up your legs
